What? White After Labor Day?!!!

Consider this one of my new favorite ensembles, a kind of Eff You to Winter.

Let's be honest, when it is zero degrees outside (as it was this particular day), with a wind chill hovering somewhere between 15 and 20 below, and you work in an office that is freezing in the middle of August, let alone the sub-arctic temps of the Midwest in January, one does not dress for fashion, one dresses for WARMTH.

One also has to account for the possibility that one might need to haul one's ass outdoors in search of a working loo when one's office water pipes freeze. True story.

So I decided to pair stripes with stripes (pinstriped jacket and Breton striped shirt), with denim. But did I pair them with regular denim? Nope. Not this guy. I went white, baby.

But the shoes....the shoes...what SHOOOOES to wear? Well, this is another conundrum in winter here (and another reason you haven't seen a lot of outfit-o-the-day posts lately). Because when there is snow and ice on the ground, and you are in danger of falling on your ass at any given moment, you wear what is practical, and what I have that is practical ain't the most versatile, fashion-forward shoesies.

So I pulled out these oldies but goodies from Charlotte Russe - rubber-soled, stacked-heeled hiking boots.

And then? Then? I threw on a vintage fur stole that I picked up at a garage sale many moons ago.

Cuz that's how I roll. Lawd, but it was WARM on my neck. In fact, at one point during the day I had to remove it. Still - I loved the way it looked with the jacket - you may see it here again before the winter is over. For those readers who are also in frigid temps, what do YOU do to stay warm (I mean, besides chug hot toddies in front of a roaring fire in your jammies)?

Oh, P.S. - if you want to see an adorable example of keeping warm, bespecially if you're a stay-at-home-mom, check out One Little Momma's excellent post here. She is another Midwest blogger - in fact, about 20 minutes from Casa de BlahBlah, I do believe. Stay warm out there, peeps!

Ahhh...this -30 degree whether has been freakin' ridiculous! Fleece leggings under maxi skirts, fuggs (faux uggs), and chunky sweaters are my weapons of choice. Love those boots.
