Put the Lime in the Coconut (and the Pineapple, and the Ginger)

Two of my favorite new healthy things as of late? A Green Smoothie featuring lime, pineapple, and ginger - soooooo tart sweet and DELISH. The only changes I made to the recipe below was to add a scoop of vanilla protein powder, which really didn't affect the flavor, and some honey, and it was STILL so tart it made my face squinch up when I took the first drink. It was reeeaaallly tasty though. Definitely adding this to my smoothie rotation. When I start drinking smoothies again on a regular basis. 



The second thing? Coconut Oil.



I'm beginning to wonder if there is anything coconut oil CAN'T do. I have read for a while about the benefits of coconut oil - not just in cooking, but in health and beauty. Bought a jar of it at Trader Joe's about a month ago, and just started using it last week. I have yet to actually COOK with it (I will, I will - SHEESH...) What am I using it for, you ask? Well, I'll tell you. I've been using it as a moisturizer on my face after washing it (and on my body after showering). It does leave it a bit greasier than my normal stuff, but not so much that I don't want to use it. I have also used it on my lips as chapstick, on my heels before putting on socks, and the other night put it in my hair from roots to ends, wrapped it in a towel for about 10 minutes and let it sit before showering. I have to admit, my hair - which is normally not oily - did get a bit oily after probably 2 days. I'm an admitted lazy hair-washer, and only wash probably twice a week. I definitely felt like I couldn't go as many days between shampoos, and would probably only do a coconut oil treatment on my hair once a week, or even once every 2 weeks.

Oh, I have to admit too, that I have eaten a bit of it too. That sounds so gross to write, but if it is the magical elixer that I keep reading, according to the pin linked above, it aids in digestion, acts as an energy boost, stimulates metabolism, contributes to weight loss and helps control cravings. Dude. SIGN ME UP.

I'd LOVE to know if anyone else uses it, and how. Have a coconutty day, ya'll.

I ACTUALLY DID AN ENTIRE POST ON COCONUT OIL. I USE IT FOR MY VEGAN CHOC. CHIP COOKIES AND USE IT EVERYDAY ON MY FACE AND MY HAIR (WHEN I THINK OF IT) HOURS BEFORE I WASH IT..LOVE IT!

oooh i have never used coconut oil, however i am a firm believer in the power of olive oil which i use as a facial moisturiser, in dressings blah blah, i am now intrigued now about coconut oil - is it so bad i looked at your special smoothie and thought a vodka would be delightful in it x
