Ahhhhh....Cleansed...


Oy vey - I started Dr. Oz's 3-Day Cleanse yesterday, which consists of a veritable metric ton of veggies and fruits in smoothie form, and not much else. This is day 2. Day 1 was okay -  I never felt hungry (well, maybe a little before the lunch smoothie), but in all, I felt pretty satisfied throughout the day.



I also worked out (took a kickboxing class) after work, and was concerned with the lower level of protein I consumed that my energy would flag, but it really didn't. 


I was down 2.5 lbs on the scale this morning, but I also woke up with a headache, which I am attributing to the lack of caffine, plus from what I've read on the reviews of this cleanse, as toxins are leaving your body, you may not feel the greatest.


I'm not relishing the three smoothies I have to drink today, and I am a person who likes my smoothies. It's the lunch one that did me in yesterday. Had the consistency of applesauce - THIIIIICK. It included 4 stalks of celery, a cucumber, pineapple, apple, kale, and almond milk. The taste wasn't terrible, but a) it was HUGE, and 2) like I said, the consistency was not my friend.


Plus it wasn't super cold - I am going to add in some ice today when I make it.


I'm not doing this cleanse to lose weight (though that's a perk). It's more to recalibrate my eating habits. With kids, it's way too easy to have a bite here and there of what they're eating (I know, I know - I probably shouldn't give them Kraft Mac & Cheese as much as I do), plus I've been eating a lot more salty stuff which is just crap. I need more veggies in my diet, that's fo shizzle. I ain't gonna lie, I'm not veggies' biggest fan.


I would LOVE to hear if anyone else has done this particular cleanse and what your results were. If you don't want to leave it in comments, email me. I need to do a bit more reading, but what I'm anxious about is how to transition into better eating habits AFTER the cleanse.

I give you a lot of credit for doing the cleanse. I don't think I could do it, therefore I've never tried. How hard is it to drink your meals while everyone in your household is eating "real" food? I'd have a hard time cooking dinner for my husband when I couldn't eat it with him. Good luck to you!

Well I always drink my breakfast..kale, berries, banana, cashews and flax seeds..just add more water if it's too thick. Do you have the nutribullet because that lil' machine is amazing.
What are you afraid of eating when you stop? how do you normally eat?
We eat pretty healthy here so if you need any suggestions just e-mail me. The most important thing is planning ahead so you don't just have to reach for whatever..that's when I get into trouble..anyway..e-mail me! ;)

Karrin, I don't mind drinking my meals, plus our schedules are so wacky that most of the time Tom and I don't even eat dinner until 8:30 after the kids are in bed. It WAS pretty tough last night, though watching him eat a turkey burger for dinner. LORD it smelled good.

Sheree - I actually eat pretty well, but I have a MAJOR sweet tooth, and have also been reaching for a lot of salty snacks lately. I just need to reset my brain, I think. Yesterday at work during what is my normal afternoon snack (2:30 ish)it was SO hard not to reach for something. Totally habit, which I just need to break, or change what I'm eating with veggies and hummus or fruit. I was at a party this weekend, and someone brought some peanut butter protein balls that were DELISH - I am totally making them to keep on hand.

Good for you. My husband and i have thought about doing that cleanse...but that's as far as we got. I've read that the lunch smoothie is the worst and that some people just do another more tasty smoothie instead. I also read that getting in that "snack" smoothie is hard b/c you are so full, but I watched the video online and Oz says you need to include it. Good luck!

Sarah - I know. I am DREADING the lunch smoothie today, and there was NO WAY I could have added in the snack smoothie. I need to go back and read why he says it's important to include it.

I'm always amazed when people can do these cleanses. For me just thinking about it is enough to turn me right off, and I'm a vegetarian.

I may need to give this cleanse a try, the scale is trying to tell me I've gained weight & as much as I want to protest, it's probably not lying:) Keep up the great work!! 2.5 lbs is awesome!!!!

Ok Ive never done a cleanse like this but the ingredients actually sound really good to me! I may need to try it after I read how you feel after doing it. My hardest part would probably be the no caffeine thing... good luck!
