Okay, what is happening in my life when a Luna bar wrapper makes me cry? I always like to read the "Who Inspires You" box on the back, and the one today on my Chocolate Peppermint Stick Luna Bar (um, YUM), said this:

You know what else would cheer me up? If I had actually pulled my phone out and taken a snap of the dude I saw at Target yesterday, with long white hair and a long white beard a la this guy: 

who was dressed in a dark pink tee shirt to match his dark pink plaid kilt, whilst shopping for a hot pink ladies' blazer. I ain't lyin. Not even a little.

You know what else cheers me up? This does:

"They wouldn't have to imagine each other if someone turned on the lights."

Seriously peeps, I almost had to go to the bathroom and collect myself after I saw that on Awkward Family Photos. Methinks I need to stop looking at it while I'm at work.

Wawamore

We had a fantastic trip to Baltimore last week to visit my sis and her family. The kids flew on their first plane ride like champs, and aside from being stuck flying American Airlines (who I am pretty sure have a new slogan that goes something like - "American Airlines - NO ONE is ruder than us...") there were a few highlights in our actual travel, like meeting a serviceman coming home from Afghanistan who, in line at the ticketing gate, took a shine to the boys because he was going home to his own twin boys (age 6). He was so sweet to them, and went through security ahead of us. We had to stop so I could take Simon poop (because anytime we're in a hurry is a GREAT time to take a poop), and when we FINALLY got through security, the serviceman had waited there for us to give each of the kids a twenty-five cent exchange certificate. It brought tears to my eyes. Also, the two flight attendants on our leg home between Dallas and Kansas City were I am almost positive Cam and Mitch from Modern Family. Loved. Them.

So here are some of my favorite snaps from our trip. Hope you enjoy them!

One of our first days, and we took the kids to Down's Park. They got their first glimpse of the beach while we were there.

My sis has a giant trampoline. What you're viewing above is a little known Baltimorian trampoline tradition. Or just kids being weird. I swear, I think I had as much fun as the kids jumping on the trampoline (or tramping, as I liked to call it), every. single. day. Behold, the evidence...

Our dessert for dinner one night - from left to right, Toscano dusted with cinnamon, Italian truffle, and triple cream cheese. We had them with raw honey, FUCKING COOKIE BUTTER FROM TRADER JOE'S, dates, and apple slices. I also had this same dessert every subsequent night that we were there. Holy. Shit.

I CAN'T QUIT YOU, CHEESE.

Awesome Things I Have Seen Lately

The last couple of weeks I have been lucky enough to see some kickass things while I've been ooot and aboot. Let's download those, shall we?

1. Remember that plaid bleach dip DIY I mentioned on my Fall Wish List a few weeks back? Welp, I found the poy-fect plaid to try it on, and I don't mean to toot my own horn, but TOOT TOOT, it frigging ROCKS. Here's the before...

AWESOME.

2. Driving on the highway, my cuz and I came upon a white Monte Carlo (year undetermined), with personalized plates "IMBAD." In the back window was a huge sicker reading "King of Pop." Uh oh - we thought, we are about to witness awesome. Please also note that we were listening to the 90s and Noon on whatever station we were listening to, so we went from Salt N Pepa's "Let's Talk About Sex" to Concrete Blonde's "Joey" to Lou Bega's "Mambo #5," so not only were we visibly witnessing awesome, we were audibly enjoying it as well. Back to the Monte Carlo. We pull up to pass, and there is a GIANT STICKER OF MICHAEL JACKSON (in his Thriller days) above the back wheel, just under the window. AWESOME.

3. A few weeks ago, when I ran to the grocery store, I time-traveled back to 1978 and ran into Kenny Rogers at the Price Chopper. His silvery mane and beard were GLORIOUS. I debated asking him to sing The Gambler for me, but figured he was getting his grocery on, and decided to leave him alone. AWESOME.

And just because it's awesome, and I'm wearing plaid to celebrate Concrete Blond and the 90s, here you go.

Conversation With a 6-Year-Old

I've been wearing a lot of all black lately. Here are two! two! two! days' worth of ensembles in one handy post. And also? FINALLY got my hurr fixed. Sort of, or at least, we're working towards what I want (THANK YOU for the recommendation, Gina - I loved Elisabeth). I know, I know - it's pretty subtle, but I can tell the difference - not so red anymore, and lighter on the sides like I had asked. Can you tell? 

And now, I present to you...Conversation With A 6-Year Old....

Setting: The park, swinging with Gavin, and a little red-haired girl comes over to swing next to us.

Girl: Hi!
Me: Hi - what's your name?

Girl: Markie.
Me: How old are you, Markie?

Markie: I'm six. Tonight I ate spaghetti for dinner and it's on my neck. My sisters ate fettucini, and I LOVE strawberries. When I was a baby I only ate strawberries and nothing else! I have two cousins - that's a LOT. Their names are Devon - he's 1 month old, and Laney, and Mia. I have two sisters. One is 13 and her name is Heaven. Why are you swinging with him? What is his name?
Me: Gavin.

Markie: How old is he? Is your daughter here playing soccer? My sisters are playing soccer. Do you have any other daughters?
Me: I have one daughter and two sons.

Markie: How old are they?
Me: They're all four.

Markie: Is your daughter going to play soccer? My sister is playing soccer. I am in kindergarten and it is THE BEST CLASS EVER. We don't even read! My kindergarten class is the BEST. Is that your husband?
Me: Yes.

Markie: How old is he?
Me: He's 44.
Markie: My dad is 42. I am 6, and I'm going to be 7 next year. I LOVE strawberries.

...and so on and so forth...

Call me crazy, but I couldn't help but think of this Mike Myers character whilst conversing with Markie...
