Moroccan On Sunshine

This week I was perusing one of my favorite blogs,  The Glamourai, and was BLOWN AWAY by the Moroccan-inspired photo shoot that she styled. Two of my favorite photos from that are below, but do yourself a flavor and check out the whole thing. It's gorgeous.

The shoot inspired me to search "Moroccan" on both etsy and Pinterest. Below are some of my favey crocketts.

I love this totally attainable Moroccan-inspired room. The layered rugs are killing me softly.

These shoes will be mine. Oh yes, they WILL be mine.

Amazing blend of modern and Moroccan, but then, I'm always a sucker for the sleek and the rustic mixed together...

Oh, look at me, I'm swooning, please help me through the desert kind sir....

Utopia? No, just someone's patiopia.

I am finding this place and squatting in it immediately. If you need me, I'll be on the pink lounge at the far side of the pool. Please bring grapes and palm fronds. Thank you.

Have a good weekend, yo!

Tight Pants

Gather round, kids, for My Most Embarrassing Story This Week. Today, I was coming back from lunch with my co-workers, and in my building (an old train depot), when you come in the front door, if you turn right, you go into our office, and if you turn left, you go into the conference room, which we share with our fellow tenants.

Each day when I come in, I go first to the conference room door and unlock it.

Well, today as I unlocked it, and started to open it, I just happened to be singing a little tune.

It was this one:

and it also just so happened that as I was opening the conference room door and singing Tight Pants, there just HAPPENED to be a meeting occurring in said conference room.

Thankfully, I had only opened the door a crack before I realized there was a meeting, but it was a full house.

Oh well. At least I was singing something that they probably hadn't heard before, and not that Gotye song that everyone is sick of (except me, I still really like that song - except the dance mix version, which is just stupid).

Anyhoozle - let's hope that's as embarrassing as it gets for a while anyway...

Jump Around!

Ya'll, I have a Very Serious List of things NOT to do when wearing a one-piece jumpsuit. Here goes:

1. Drink lots of coffee for brekkie.

2. See number one.

For serious. I swear I had to completely undress about eleventy five times just before 10 a.m. yesterday morning with this bad boy on, and El Stupido Belto (which sometimes just pops off randomly if I, say, bend forward in just the right way). Ugh. I mean, I really love the belt with the jump suit, I just hate dealing with the damn thing every time I gotta go pee.

And also? Let it hereby be known that I LOATHE strapless bras. I'm pretty sure the one I wore with the jump suit could double as a flotation device, or at the very least, a memory foam pillow.

If someone out there has a good recommendation for a strapess brawr that does not sit up on its own with the amount of foam padding, and is at least SEMI comfortable, I'd love to hear about it. Don't leave me hangin, ya'll. Pun intended.

The One In Which I FINALLY Wear My Skirt

Amy Bo Bamy gave me this skirt like, FOREVER ago, and I finally got around to wearing it, wondering "why the hell did it take me so long, cuz it is KEYOOT if I say so myself." Boho hippie and comfy - what more could a girl want?

Becept I walked into Charming Charlie's whilst I was wearing it, and was afraid they were going to accuse me of stealing it, cuz they had a lot of very similar items.

Luckily I escaped unscathed (or un-accused, as the case may be). I also escaped sans ANYTHING, which really sucks. Much as I love Charming Charlie's, and I DO love them, they can be somewhat overwhelming in the sheer amount of merchandise they carry. Or merch, if you're in the biz, which I am not. Still, I think I can pull it off when I need to.

You know what else I can pull off? A mean grilled lamb chop with asparagus salsa verde, and grilled artichoke with garlic aioli on the side. True story. Made em this weekend, and they. were. goooood. NOM NOM NOM. I highly recommend.

What are YOU recommending these days? Food? Books? Amway? Fill me in. It's been too long.

A Hairy Situation

Ladies, meet me at camera three. We have something to discuss. This weekend I was oooot and aboooot, and saw something that was abhorrant. It was vile. It was revolting. It was a woman with this haircut:

I know, I know, some of you may be thinking "Hmmmm...perhaps a woman in her 40s sporting pink hair shouldn't be casting stones," to which I reply: "BUT MINE WASHED OUT AFTER ONE SHAMPOO..." Can I get a witness?

For reals though, The Gosselin didn't even look good in 2008, let alone 2012. It's a haircut I have just never understood. It's two! Two! Two cuts in one! It's a Frankencut.

And in 2012? It's time to give it up.

For the love of Sheena Easton, Kate Gosselin doesn't even wear The Gosselin anymore.

I implore you, ladies who continue to wear this style. Perhaps even more, I implore YOU, hairdressers who continue to foist this travesty on us, refuse. Just refuse to give the cut anymore. Please. Do it for the children.

All eight of them.

And speaking of liver and onions, I have had these photos for like, EVER now, and just haven't posted them yet because let's face it, I have sucked as a blogger lately. I'm TRYING to turn it around, folks. But what we have here is The Deal Of The Century, courtesy of T.J. Maxx.

It's an All Saints dress I scored for $59, regularly $480. Awwww yeah. 25th class reunion, here I come.

This bad boy weighs about 15 pounds, and that ain't no joke. But for fiddy nine dollah to make you hollah? I'll add another 15 el-bees to my number.

T.J. Maxx - I think you hear me knockin, and I think I'm comin in. My name is Maxxinista. Call me...

Random (p)Inspirations: Hot Time, Summer In the City

Some of my summer-related favey faves a la Pinterest. Come on, taste the rainbow...

French toast with coconut syrup? Sign me up.

LOVE this chevron painting which I'm pretty sure I could duplicate on canvas. Wish me luck.

Okay, so this isn't summer related per se, but I am in DIRE need of some organization for my jurreys, and this is an AWESOME idea.

Ummmm, YES. Frigging perfect.

As Jeff Spicoli would say, "All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine."

Gorgeous bohemian patio perfection.

Happy weekend, ya'll.

I HOPE to be back on my game next week. My sis and her kids got in town last week, and we haven't seen them for 2 years, so cut me a lil slack.

Girrrrl, You Put WHAT In Your Hurr???

Ya'll, I am getting LAZY with concern to my hurr. I can't remember the last time I blew it dry straight and then curled it. In the summer, it's just so much EASIER to let it be what it wants to be (i.e., sort of wavy/curly) so that is what I have been doing. Oh sure, I add a few curls with my flat iron (I have also realized my hurr looks WAY better/more natural when I use the flat iron as opposed to the curling iron to curl it).

Sometimes I may go as far as blowing my bangs dry to the side, but then I put any combination of the following into it and let it dry on its own:

Got 2b Fat-tastic Instant Collagen Infusion Thickening Plumping mousse
L'Oreal Ever Style Volume Root Lifting Spray

No, I don't put ALL of the above in at once, typically the leave in conditioner and curl cream. Or I'll just put mousse in the bottom, scrunch it through, and leave it to dry on its own. The problem with this is that it takes my hair a LONG time to dry, like, several hours, so I have to either do it in an evening and leave enough time to dry before I go to bed, which I don't like to do because it just isn't as full and fluffy as I like the next day, or get up at the ass crack of dawn to let it dry if I'm going to work (which - let's face it - RARELY happens).

If I have slept on it and am getting ready for work, as soon as I get up, I'll put more mousse in the bottom, re-scrunch, and then when that has dried, throw in some flat iron curls where it looks extra flat. I curl before I put makeup on, let it cool and set while I'm doing my face, and then comb through it with my fingers when I'm finished. When it looks how I want, I'll hit it with some Kenra Super Hold Finishing Spray 25. LOVE that stuff, because it provides a good amount of hold without being sticky or stiff.

As much as I am enjoying my lazy hair, the biggest downside to wearing it this way is that I can't get quite as many days out of it before I have to rewash, probably because I use so many more products in it every day. And when I say quite as many, I mean I can probably get a good 2 - 3 days as opposed to 3 - 4 without washing. Disgusting, you say? You say tomato, I say lazy. And awesome. Because only doing my hurr every few days or so ROCKS.

Some random scenes from the weekend...

Strawberry Milkshake Whopper Cake - made my birfday cake on Saturday. I loved the way it looked, but it just wasn't my favorite. Still, if you wanna try it, you can find it here.

 Bedtime stories
I went to check on the boys before I went to bed one night, and they had made tents for all of their critters, lined up in front of the closet. So cute I about died.

First s'mores of the summer!!

My boys. Gavin's hand on Simon's head just kills me with the sweetness.
Green smoothie: 1 c coconut water, pineapple (I don't know how much - whatever looked good to me), 1/2 banana, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, kale leaves (again, I just eyeballed it). Goooood. Stuff.

Happy Monday, yo!
