Um, Yum

SOMEONE has been dealing with a houseful of sick people for the past 4 - 5 days. I don't know how, but I have escaped it so far. Low-grade fevers, nasty phlegmy coughs, sinus crud, general malaise. I thought everyone was getting better, and then BLAMO, Sunday, it was all fever and pajamas and snot all damn day.

I DID get my cook on though, and made these Thai Turkey Burgers with peanut sauce, and can I just say, Um, YUMMMMM. The only thing I would do differently next time is make more damn sauce. It was GOOOOOD. Also delightful? The Blue Moon Spring Blond Wheat Ale that I chugged along with dinner. And by "chugged" I mean "guzzled," "slammed," "inhaled," take your pick. Holy crap, I loves me some Blue Moon, but the Spring Blond Wheat is definitely my favorite yet. Also made some roasted broccoli and oven fries to go wif.

Not only did I get my cook on, I got my craft on too. Oh yeah. FINALLY dragged the boys' dresser out into the garage to prime and paint it. I only bought it off Craigslist about a year and a half ago to do this, and am just now getting around to it, so I'm right on schedule. Painted it a charcoal grey, and am going to paint some white racing stripes down one side of it, change out some of the hardware, and spray paint the rest of the hardware a neon yellow green. I'll be sure to take pics when I'm finished.

We got the boys their bunk bed set last weekend and set them up (NOT as a bunk bed - not yet anyhoo - I have no doubt someone would break their arm if we gave them bunks at this point in our lives). Sooo we set them up as twin beds in Scarlett's old room - it was the only room that would allow for two twin beds (stupid windows and doors and closet doors). I'm doing their room in a surf/beach theme (without being too "themey," if you get my drift). I bought some burlap and made simple panel curtains for the windows, and am going to blow up a couple of beach prints I took around Laguna Beach the last time we were there. HEY - JUST HAD A BRAINSTORM. I'm not sure which ones I want to use - one will go over each bed, and I'm going to enlarge them to 24 x 36. Please take a gander below and vote on your favorite photo. Maybe your feedback will help me decide!!!

1. Balboa Market

2. Sunset Beach

3. Trees at Sunset

4. Beach Umbrellas

5. Palms

6. Rainbow Chair

7. Toys

This isn't one that would go over a bed, just because it's landscape and I want a portrait photo, but I may still use it somewhere in the room.

And, and, annnnnd, on a completely different note - did anyone else watch SNL this weekend? Hey LiLo, READ CUE CARDS MUCH??? For the love of Levar Burton, she couldn't take her eyes off them! I did think this video was heeeee-laious. What'd anyone else think?

Happy Monday, yo!

I picked the rainbow chair!!! But all the photos are gorgeous. :)

I read somewhere that the LiLo episode got the highest ratings for SNL? I should watch that episode. :)

P.S. I'm hosting a book tour on my blog. You may want to join the giveaways. :) Amazon gift cards and a Kindle Fire are up for grabs. :) It's over here. :)

I voted for the palms, but also love the sunset. Yeah and dear elderly looking LiLo reading the cue cards was so distracting! Well that and the plastic surgery face. Oh did I ever tell you that my brother works on "Million Dollar Listing" (the LA one) well his working days are spent in Malibu in these insanely gorgeous houses and beaches. Jerk!
