Tummy Tuck Timeline: The 3 Week Mark

I can't believe that Monday was 3 weeks from my surgery date. It has been pretty amazing - every day I feel a little better, but last week I really felt like I turned a corner on feeling more like my normal self again. The hunching isn't quite so bad now. I am standing almost fully upright again, though by the end of the day I hunch more. Just call me Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer. Homo-sapien IN DA HOUSE!
..
Went to the doc last Monday to have the stitches removed from Frankenbutton, and they FINALLY removed the damn tape from my incision, and ye olde stomache looks MUCH better. It's still very swollen at my hips, which the doc assured me would decrease, but even when I relax my muscles, it's probably flatter than it has ever been. I asked how much fat/skin they took, and he said a few pounds worth, and then the nurse told me she had taken photos of it if I wanted to look at it. Rest assured I will NOT be posting photos of my sucked-out fat on MBB.
.
I have never considered myself especially squeamish, but when she was removing the stitches, I thought I would vom or pass out. Seriously. There is no feeling under Frankenbutton - it is like a Novocaine feeling, so I couldn't feel pain THERE per se, but I could feel her snipping and pulling the stitches out, which drove. me. INTHANE in the membrane, and a few times I could feel a sensation like that of a hair being pulled out from the root, several inches above and to one side as she would remove a stitch. ARRRGGGHHH!!!

I also found a message board that I have been frequenting for the past few weeks that has been very helpful in seeing others' experiences with tucks. HOWEVER - one recent post on it was about how soon is too soon to do the sexy time after surgery, and there were women on there who said they had done the deed at THREE AND SIX DAYS post op. I have no idea if these women are actually robots or porn stars or liars, because at 2 weeks out I was in no rush to jump into it. I just cannot imagine doing it at 6 days out, let alone DAY FRIGGING THREE. I am sorry - I just have to throw the bullshit flat on that. For the love of Tony Orlando and Dawn, I was not able to blow my nose that first week without being in agony, let alone having the sexy times.
.
Anyhoozle - I thought I'd share some photos if you're interested. If you're not, just don't scroll down - they're not the prettiest. I have some pre-op, some post-op, and some from last week. I still need to take my photos for this week, but because I have been saying for a while that I was going to post them, I wanted to go ahead and do it. It took a while to get my nerve up because this is REALLY putting myself out there. I plan to keep taking photos once a week for a while just for my own curiosity, and may post some here again if people are interested in seeing them.

Pre Op 4-17-11
Pre-op straight on doesn't look tooooo terrible, but take a look-see from the side...
YOWSA. Letting it all hang out, muscles completely relaxed

Mmmmmm. Appetizing, no?

Sucking in the gut for all it's worth

Post Op - 4-23-11

Meet Frankenbutton. This was the first and only photo I took just after surgery.

4-30-11

5-3-11

 Frankenbutton sans stitches

Holding my abs in
Letting ye olde stomach muscles relax completely. Still A LOT of swelling, espesh at my hips, but WAY better than the pre-op photo! The red bumps and lines are a combination of heat rash and swelling from the compression binder. Comfy.
.
Anyhoozle - there I am in all my glory - Lord but I have a lot of moles! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Just be gentle with me, people. This is the most vulnerable I have felt yet in a post. Gulp.
.
Merci!

Dude. As soon as my boys are in kindergarten, that tummy tuck is MINE!

The results are awesome, and I seriously cannot believe your tummy pre-tummy tuck. I feel, as a fellow mom of triplets, that I can commiserate some on the weird things that happen to the belly after triplets, but you NEVER would have known it was there, in all the photos you've posted of yourself in your blog. You dressed that belly well! (Was that a back-handed compliment? Not meant to be. Just straight on compliment.)

PY - No, I know exactly what you mean. Like I said in an earlier post, I definitely learned to dress to hide that it, and spent so much time sucking my gut in that I was surprised myself to see it completely relaxed that initial time in the doc's office!!

You look incredible and should be super proud to show off that amazing bod at swimsuit time!!

Even after mentioning in your earlier post about how much you were sucking it in, it's unbelieve to see the pre-op pic. When you first mentioned that you were getting a tuck, I honestly didn't think we'd see much of a difference because you hid it so well and have always looked amazing in your WWD posts!

You look awesome!

I didn't have triplets but 4 babies in 6 years...it ain't pretty!

The husband and I are trying for another. I'm hoping to be pregnant in the next year but I've already told him for the big 4-0 I want my belly back.

Thanks for being so honest! At least now I have some idea of what is in store for me(gulp)

oh that all makes my body hurt in a good way. I thought I was going to die with a c-section so I can only imagine the pain you have gone through. No pain no gain thought, right;-) Seriously how are you 40? Oh wait I am not too far behind you. Your belly looks so good and it is only going to keep on looking better..So I'm thinking I am going to have my triplet milkers fixed soon..scared...so thanks for documenting.

I'm at a loss...which is rare.
The befores: not so bad...and then from the side: yowzer! your uterus hates your friggin' guts. Literally. Not a lot of skin, you just look 5 months (normal) preggers. Amazing to a civilian like myself.
The durings (because that's what it is): OWW-to-the-mother-effing-CCCHHHH!!! Frankenbutton was to be expected, but the ziggity zaggity bidness took me by surprise.
The (kind of) after: Truly worth it (ways the woman who didn't have to go under of recoup). Amazeballs to the 100th power. Of course the rest of your body is little and cute so you are the ultimate Tuck candidate. Good job mamacita.

I had a mole removed once and I didn't do it for at least a week. So yeah, 3-6 days is a REAL problem.

Thanks for sharing, I've always wondered and now I know. YOU LOOK MAAAAVELOUS (insert Billy Crystal here). xo

Thank you all for being SO NICE in the comments (not that I expected anything different from my regular commenters) - I think I was expecting some Anon comment to show up like "don't be showing us photos of your pasty white raggady ass flab," or something. I appreciate ya'll more than I can say.

In response to something Brassy said - my big incision isn't actually ziggity zaggaty - it's just the way they have the tape on it. For my photo this week I'll make sure to show the actual incision since it is sans tape. I believe the reason I didn't do it before was that well...I hadn't shaved and ummmm....it was a little more "welcome to the jungle" than normal, and I just figured that kind of photo isn't good for anyone. I'm just keepin it real, peeps.

Mwah!

A few thoughts:

I know I'm supposed to say how awful the before looks, but, honestly, I think your skin tone, muscle, etc. looks AMAZING for having triplets! Seriously! No stretch marks? No sag? Outstanding! That said, I can see that despite how slender you are, your tummy was disproportionate with the rest of your body.

As for the after: WOWZA! So dramatic already! How exciting. I'll be interested to see how it changes through the weeks.

And I hope to look half as hot as you when I'm 41. Heck, I hope to look half that hot now!

xoxo,
~Olivia

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with no BS about wonderful you felt since day 1 after surgery. I have been reading other blogs and this is my very first comment on a blog. I am 38 years and have had 2 c-sections. I had TT just 2 1/2 weeks ago (June 12th). I still can't stand up straight yet and am very much very bloated. You describe EXACTLY how it feels, especially at night. I hope to gain the courage, like you, to post pictures soon. Thanks again for being so open with your experience. You look awesome!

I have a friend that is thinking about getting tummy tuck to look good for the bathing suit season. I sure hope that she knows that it take a while before you get better from the surgery. She is probably getting ready for next year by having it done this summer. She ask me about vaser high definition liposuction, is this is good.

Good Morning. Thank you so much for all your information on tummy tuck. I had gastric bypass on March 23,2010 weighing 312lbs. I lost a total of 110lbs and gained back 40lbs. I was going to the gym 3 to 5 times a week it varied. Sorry this is the first time I have the courage to post. I just did my Tummy Tuck on Tuesday, May 23rd at 1:30pm as you can all see These are dates that have been important to me (besides the birth of my two boys) Thank you so very much for your bravery in showing your before and after pictures. You look Awesome my dear and I hear it gets better. By the way, my nickname is Grace an on July 12th I'll be 52 years old and yesterday I made three weeks and so scared because today at 12 noon I am getting my first massage (which I hear is painful and after that I will meet with my PS DR. YAGER from Washington Heights. I can't believe I finally had the courage to do the tummy tuck after 7 years of fear. All I know is all that stomach flab is over, but I am super swollen and both my feet look like Ms. Piggy and my upper thighs are super fat and tight..so much questions for my Dr.
Let's see my courage on posting pictures next week.
