Because of my surgery on Monday, I cannot have any adult beverages this week, which is driving me NUTS. Surrsly - mama like her glass of wine after the Trips go to bed every night. It's not like I'm overdoing it - just one a night - but it's killing me!!!

I came across the following recipe recently, and rest assured once I get all the meds out of my system, I will be making it. Oh yes, I will. In the meantime, raise a glass or two for me, and if you make it, lemme know how wonderous it REALLY is:

The Hurricane Club's No. 17
For the drink
2 oz. spiced rum
4 oz. pineapple, lemongrass, and coconut mixer (recipe below)
Cocoa nib bitters
2 fresh kaffir lime leaves
½ oz. lime juice

1. Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake and transfer to a tall glass.
2. Garnish with pineapple or other tropical fruit, mint, and flowers.

For the mixer
2 oz. pineapple juice
½ tbsp. fresh lemongrass, chopped
Zest of 1 lemon
2 oz. coconut milk
½ oz. water

1. Combine juice, lemongrass, and zest. Microwave for 90 seconds.
2. Cover and let sit 30 minutes.
3. Add milk and water.

Yum! I might have to break open our bottle of Don Q and try this recipe. Will def raise a glass, or mason jar, of this yumminess in your honor! Hang in there.

First, just in case I don't get to say so, good luck on Monday and here's to an easy recovery!

Second, what the heck are cocoa nib bitters? Where do you even find those? I was a bartender for years and never heard of those but am terrified to leave them out for fear of ruining the drink. 'Cuz it sounds AMAZING!

Yes, to echo Paula, hang in there. I would be crying my eyes out without my evening cocktail.
