FBFF: Beauty & The Beat

Thanks again to Katy at ModlyChic for coming up with some great questions for this week's Fashion/Beauty Friend Friday. This week's topic? Beauty Schtuff - YAY!!!! Imma tell you some of mine, then you can share your favey crocketts. I love hearing about everyone's faves cuz I am ALWAYS down with new product. Espesh if you may be, say, a makeup artiste (not to name any names, Gina...) Let's begin, shallllll we?????
.
1. What's your favorite drug store makeup product and your favorite higher-end product?

Prolly my favorite drugstore product is one I've extolled the virtues of before: Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Airbrush Foundation in natural (by Carmindy). Love the stuff. The only problem is that I use it up so frigging quickly (and I do not cake my face in the stuff - I only use it on my cheeks and nose to even out my skin), plus I can't always find it. Howevs, I have never considered looking for it online. Duh. Anyhoo - I love it because it's light and gives good coverage.
.
As for a higher end product?

I do loves me some Peter Thomas Roth Gentle Complexion Correction Pads. They are an acid peel in a jar, and they smell yum yums. I have also been wanting to try his new Laser Free Resurfacer serum WITH DRAGON'S BLOOD COMPLEX (it sounds so medieval and SEXY), so if you've tried it - lemme know whatcha think.
./
2. Is there one type of product that is your go-to, can't live without?

Well duh, it's Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I have it in the original and in Sin (the shimmery pink primer), but the original is number one in my heart. Love love love this stuff's ability to keep your shadow in its place.
.
3. What's the best hair product you've ever used?

Welllll, EVER used is a bold statement because my hair does best when I change up my products pretty routinely, but I looove Moroccan Oil. Howevs, I am currently taking a break from it to use a different oil spray which I cannot remember the name of and I'm too lazy to go look and see what it is. Cut me some slack - it's late and I'm old and tired. Back to the Moroccan Oil, love it, it smells delish, cuts down my drying time, and leaves my hair soft as silk. Speaking of Morocco, my sis is going to ACTUAL Morocco and I have to come up with something for her to pick up for me whilst she is there, so if you've ever been and can recommend something, I am taking recommendations.
.

4. Fess up, what's the worst beauty look you've tried to rock and look back at now with a little shame or apprehension that you actually did that?
Oh, I totally rocked a Sheena Easton/John Taylor a la Duran Duran mullet. I am so looking for the photo to share. Dude - I WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL IN THE 80s, what do you expect???? I even took that photo above to my hurrdresser to recreate, which she did exactingly. I may have also at one time worn a giant red bandanna around the top of my head a la Bret Michaels the FIRST time he was popular - you know, way BEFORE Rock Of Love. Possibly with a giant chambray shirt and leggings. Hence my hesitation to embrace the chambray this time around.
.....
5. When it comes to beauty products, we all use the same basic products. What do you use that helps show off your personal flare and personality?
Hmmmm...this one is a toughie - I keep my makeup fairly neutral and use my clothing to express my style more. I mean, for the love of Mary Kay, I have like 897 tubes of lipstick and lipgloss and lip pencils, all different brands, but the exact same shade. True story. I am drawn to a good nude gloss with a hint of shimmer, what can I say? I think my eyes are my best feature, so I play them up more with makeup, which is prolly why I keep buying the same damn shade of gloss. Durrrr...897 tubes of lipstick and gloss are HEAVY, too. My purse is laden with them. BUT I DIGRESS.

I think one thing I do use to "express myself," if you will (just call me Madonna), is perfume. I'm a perfume whore, and love love love it. I have scents that I wear in the spring/summer (Hanae Mori, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, Miss Marisa, Comptoir sud Pacifique), and scents for fall/winter (Euphoria, Burberry Brit). I love Luckyscent for more hard-to-find fragrances, and love the fact that you can order sample sizes to test them out before committing to a full bottle, because I am a BIG believer in wearing a scent for a week or so to see how it will react with your chemistry.
.
So there they are - my faves in a nutshell. But enough about me - what do YOU love? Don't be stingy, share, cuz like I said, I can ALWAYS through some more products in my arsenal.
.
Merci!
Shannan

Hi, Shannan! You always make me laugh, but I especially loved your little shout out to Mary Kay this morning, as I am a Sales Director with MK! I, too, love the Moroccan Oil! I would ask for a rug from Morocco, if she is willing to ship! Have a great day!

Ooooo, I am a beauty product JUNKIE!

One of my favs has got to be Argan oil. I do use and love Moroccan Oil in my hair but I keep a separate non-smellicious bottle of straight organic Argan oil for my face. LOVE. Especially with this dry, skin cracking winter weather! It's perfect right after you get out of the shower.

I can't BELIEVE I forgot to tell you about the time I sported this exact same haircut! I would share a photo or two but all evidence has since been destroyed.
