WWD: Blizzard of Oz

When Carrie at This Free Bird threw down the gauntlet for a white denim in winter challenge, I was all, "I'm SOOOOO down with that." Do I care if I'm not supposed to wear white after Labor Day? Hells no. Then the Blizzard of Oz hit, and we got a foot of snow. The hell, Dorothy?!!!!

In light of the fact that today is day one of Winter in White challenge, I present to you the below ensemble. It just so happens that I scored a pair of skinny white Hudson jeans at the Second Annual Ladieth Night Clothing Swap at Mel's GORGEOUS home, so as soon as I read about the challenge, I knew they would be the perfect denim with which to test the winter waters, so to speak. In the spirit of full-disclosure, however, I have to say that since I actually have a meeting to attend at work today, and did not feel it appropriate to wear denim to said meeting, I wore this actual outfit last Thursday.

In thinking about how to style it up, I thought....hmmmm...WWKMD...What Would Kate Moss Do? Well, ch-ch-check it out. Funny thing is, I didn't pull this picture until yesterday morning, and had obviously already worn my outfit by then, so I think I did a pretty good job of channeling her style. I knew she would layer it up with something casual like a plaid shirt, slouchy tee/tank underneath, a big scarf, and of course a jacket. I am kind of wishing I would've paired my OTKs with it now that I see how hers look, but I was also dressing for A FRIGGING FOOT OF SNOW, and knew my rubber soled boots were easy to maneuver around in.

Faux Chanel jacket? Check.

The Hubs' plaid shirt and slouchy tank underneath? Check check.

Toasty warm ombree scarf-o-bamboo scored at a shop in Laguna? Check.

Aforementioned rubber soled boots? Check.

Bling? Durrrr....
I can't wait to see how the other ladies participating in the challenge style their own winter whites. Check them out here your damn selves:

Daniela from D, Etc.
Taylor from Curly In The City

white looks so fresh in winter, when done correctly- as you have exhibited. well done on the challenge!
i had a great pair of slim-cut white levi's in high school that i purposely wore in winter. in those days, it wasn't normally done so i did get a few silly comments. how things have changed...i think i'd draw the line at white shoes, though. :)

Great job channeling Kate Moss. And yes, I agree that OTK boots would have been the icing on the cake. :-)

whatEVER! you look so fabuloso. layer upon layer upon layer of fabulous, to be specific. love it all. i'd list out each part of your ensemble that i love, but that would be close to stalkerish and creepy. and i've had enough creepiness for one week. so. rest assured that (a) i love your outfit and (b) i'm not creepy. there.
