WWD: Follow Up

Spent Saturday night at the second annual ladieth clothing swap, which was a smashing success, even better than the first time (hey, that should be a song...) For reals - there were some amazing, gorgeous ladies who attended, and let's just say the amount of clothing, jewelry, handbags, shoes, and even makeup and hair product was OBSCENE. Someone maaaay have scored an ADORABLE Phillip Lim 3.1 blouse (this guy), and guess which someone didn't look QUITE as adorable once they finally tried on said blouse at home later. Mmmm-hmmmm - this guy. I was crushed.
No matter - I still scored two pairs of skinny jeans (one of which was a KEYOOT pair of white Hudsons), a frigging ADORABLE black studded kimono-esque blouse, coupla dresses, boots, and some faaa-haaa-haaabulous jewelry.

Not only that, but I scored some hurr product and makeup - including a new favey lip gloss - Smashbox Siren. You can see it in the bottom pic, because for some reason I didn't apply it til the bitter end when taking my photos this a.m.

You can kiiiinda see some of my new urrings above, big wooden rectangly danglies, but they really blend into my hurr.

Wait a minute, Shannan - you may be thinking - is there something different about your hurr? Well yes, there is. I went darker again this weekend, and the very bottom pic doesn't have any photo effect on it (other than auto correct) so it's the best representation of what said hurr actually looks like. I love it. It's not quite as dark as I expected it to be, so I may have her throw in some more dramatic lowlights the next time I go, but I feel like it looks better with my skin tone, and makes my features stand out more than my previous color did.

Strangely, the only thing I'm wearing today from ladieth night is the earrings, because I was feeling SO GROSS about myself this morning - I think I'm pre-menses, so bear with me this week. Everything I put on was horrific, and this outfit made me feel at least a little cute. I don't know about you, but I HATE this feeling.
.
On THAT happy note, I will bid you adieu, and good Monday to you.

Those boots are fabulous lady! And how do you get those gorgeous waves in your hair? Thanks so much for becoming a Rosebud!

Kristin - thank you! thank you! (for the boots and the hurr comment). It only took me about 10 years to figure out how to curl my hair in a way that I liked it. It's a large barrel curling iron, and I start about mid-way down the length I'm going to curl, roll the iron once, then slide it almost to the end (I leave out the last 1/2 inch, and curl back to the point I started. Do my whole head, and then just rake my fingers through it and spray.

Wow - reading back over that it sounds way harder than it is. Thanks again!

Merci,
Shannan

Love the hair! Don't feel alone, I was feeling mighty gross about myself today too. So much so that I gave up and threw on yoga pants so I didn't feel so constricted - one of those days (I'm home with a sick kiddo too - ick!)

Your hair is so lovely a bit darker. But I HATE mine even the darkish blond I've been rocking for a couple o' months.

About your outfit: Just darling. No one would even guess you were PMS-y.

About the swap: Maybe I missed it, but how was it organized? I'd love to do one in my neck o' the woods.

Jenny - danke!

Olivia - short story long - invites sent out, people brought anything from clothes, shoes, jewelry, handbags, makeup and hair product, and everything was set up (either hung on racks or spread out on tables/couches), then guests "pre-shopped" to see what was there. When it was time to swap a rama, we drew numbers 1 - 10 (based on number of peeps there). First round, number 1 went first, 2, etc. until everyone went. Second round, number 2 went first, 3, ending w/number 1, so that eventually, each number got to pick "first." There was enough stuff that all ten got to go first and then start over (there was a TON of stuff, I'm tellin ya), and when it started to slow at the end, we did a free for all, where you just grabbed what you wanted. No guests were hurt in the melee, luckily! SO. FUN. Do it!!!
