Baby It's Old Outside

Yep, this is me after shoveling our freakishly enormous driveway yesterday. I did not realize just how freakishly enormous is was until half-way through said shoveling, when I had the thought, "Isn't today the day we are supposed to get 30 - 40 MPH winds?" followed immediately by the thought, "Sweet wind cries Mary, if I have just shoveled this entire driveway to have it covered back up by mounds and mounds of snow, I will curl up right here and die." Luckily, that didn't happen. What DID happen was that, as The Trips were screaming their heads off while I was trying to put them down for their nap, two young hooligans came to the door to find out "If I wanted to pay them each $15 to shovel the drive." I was more than a leeeetle miffed when I spat back, "I JUST SHOVELED IT," thinking in me head, "where da HAIL were you 2 hours ago, you punks?!"

Also, you may note how I am dressed, in coat, hat, scarf, and boots. Mayhaps it is because I am olllllld, but two different babysitters we use (one a senior in high school, the other a freshman in college) show up to babysit IN SNOW AND ICE, in either a) FRIGGING FLIP FLOPS, socks, and no coat, or 2) Ugg slip ons. What. The. EFF, Youth Of America??? Is this some crazy new trend that I am not privy to as a 40-year old? Are you too cool to wear a coat in sub-zero weather? Everytime they leave I shrill, "WEAR A COAT NEXT TIME! AND SOME REAL SHOES OR BOOTS!!!" They just laugh in my face.

Ah well, right now I am done worrying about their well-being, and am getting ready to enjoy my favorite winter snackity ack - a nice cuppa tea wif milk, some Cadbury chocolate biscuits, and my Geritol. Ahhhhhhhh.....

Girl, isn't this the EXACT reason why we had kids in the first place?? And you have TRIPS for Pete's sake!

Throw 'em outside, and show them some of those biscuits from the window. The 3 of them will get that driveway cleared in a JIFF!

Lookin Good, Shan!

I remember when we would cut an acre of grass for $5!!! What the EFF are they thinking with their $15 x 2 shizzle??!! Of course I also remember when we had to get up to change the channel on TV; and it took 3 minutes to dial a phone waiting for that wheel to spin back around each time.

I would be one of those girls right now in 20 degree weather and flip flops and my Shrek toe!

I'm impressed...that's a hell of a lot of shoveling!
