Fashion Icon Friday

Welcome to our newest feature, Fashion Icon Friday. On these frabjous days, we will feature our biggest fashion inspirations. I personally (and this is Shannan speaking) can think of no other way to kick off this feature than the ultimate icon: Audrey Hepburn.

Audrey Hepburn was grace, elegance and class personified, and when you hear about the latest starlet who has been called "the next Audrey Hepburn," well, sorry - that just ain't gonna happen. They don't make em like that anymore. Natalie Portman MAY come the closest, with her beauty, intelligence and charm, but in my humble opinion, Audrey Hepburn is in a class by herself.

Audrey was different - long, lean, boyish when the norm was Marilyn Monroe curves. She knew how to dress to accentuate that, and did not try to mold herself into something she was clearly not. Her style, from the 50s, 60s, and until her death, was timeless, classic, and always modern. One could dress in a style similar to hers today or 20 years from now and still be current. There is nothing I can say that hasn't been written a thousand times before, so I'll just let her beautiful photos speak for themselves.
Thank you, Miss Hepburn, for your grace and class.

Funny Face
Sigh. Those glorious red wings. This scene in the movie was breathtaking.

So lovely.

From Wait Until Dark - one of the best suspense movies evah.

Audrey and her work for Unicef

Two of my favorite photos.

Thanks for taking the reigns on this one, Shan. I'd add more but there is nothing more to say. I concur. Ditto.

Okay, maybe just once in my life I want to hear someone say, "You remind me of Audrey Hepburn." How great would that be? Le sigh.
